• This is the first Family Guy Christmas episode. There would not be another for almost nine years until "Road to the North Pole".
  • Although not part of the show, the Family Guy team created a recording of "All I Really Want For Christmas" for the holiday for a Los Angeles radio station at this time. A different version of this song would be used in "Road to the North Pole".
  • Bonnie mentions that Joe became paralyzed around Christmas time. This is shown in "A Hero Sits Next Door", where he is paralyzed by The Grinch but it is revealed to be a lie in "Joe's Revenge".
  • One of the two presents Stewie gets for Christmas is Hungry Hungry Hippos.
  • The Three Wise Men seen in the cutaway gag are also the ones seen at the pageant.
  • Paul Stanley's star is on the wrong eye in Kiss Saves Santa.
  • When the guys go out drunk at night while Peter goes sober, they go wassailing, which is actually based on an age old tradition of drinking wassail during the Winter season.
  • Peter is unamused by Joe’s joke about breaking his legs, and claims that it was “about as funny as Sinbad.” He goes on to explain that he was not referring to Sinbad the comedian, but rather Sinbad the Sailor.
  • According to the Paley Center for Media, the moment Peter realizes that he accidentally gave away all of the presents as well as the ensuing "from vs. for" discussion is ranked #24 on their list of TV's Funniest Holiday moments. Incidentally, Jane Lynch, who had a recurring role on Family Guy as Dotty Campbell, hosted the special.[1]
