The episode title is a reference to the Kurt Russell film Big Trouble in Little China.
After Stewie stabs the rat, he says "I'll have what she's having," a quote from the film When Harry Met Sally.[1]

Brian's impalement with the family toenails parodies the death of Indiana Jones' guide at the hands of the Hovitos in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
