Dennis Franz Schlachta (born October 28, 1944), known professionally as Dennis Franz, is an American actor known for his role as NYPD Detective Andy Sipowicz in NYPD Blue, a role that earned him a Golden Globe Award, three Screen Actors Guild Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards. He also worked in Hill Street Blues and its short-lived spinoff, Beverly Hills Buntz.
In "I Never Met the Dead Man", Dennis appears as Andy Sipowicz in an episode of NYPD Blue. In order to extract a confession, he threatens to show his ass from a suspect.
Dennis works as a celebrity spokesperson for Peter's invention, the Suit-Chute, a trap door placed into tuxedo trousers for bathroom emergencies in "Married...With Cancer".
One of the settings in Lois' exercise bike in "Mister Act" is the 'Tour de Franz', a bike ride behind Dennis Franz. He later exchanges places in the Griffin's shower following their ride.
