Don LaFontaine

Donald Leroy "Don" LaFontaine (August 26, 1940 - September 1, 2008) was an American voiceover artist famous for recording more than 5,000 film trailers and hundreds of thousands of television advertisements, network promotions, and video game trailers. His nicknames included "Thunder Throat" and "The Voice of God". He became identified with the phrase "In a world…", which has been used in movie trailers so frequently that it has become a cliché. He parodied his career several times, most recently in commercials for GEICO insurance, an episode of the Dan Povenmire-created Phineas and Ferb, and the Mega Millions lottery game.

In "North by North Quahog", he narrated the trailer for the unreleased The Passion of the Christ 2: Crucify This starring Jim Caviezel and Chris Tucker.

In "Brian Sings and Swings", he attempts to figure out Dwayne Johnson's ethnicity.

In "Ocean's Three and a Half", he narrated the trailer for Danger in Cincinnati starring Jeff Bridges and Laura Linney.

His voice was also heard in the first Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story segment "Stewie B. Goode", "Road to Europe", and "Screwed the Pooch".

LaFontaine passed away at the age of 68 following complications from pneumothorax.
