Everybody Loves Raymond was an American television sitcom that originally ran on CBS from September 13, 1996 to May 16, 2005. Many of the situations from the show are based on the real-life experiences of lead actor Ray Romano, creator/producer Phil Rosenthal and the show's writing staff. The main characters on the show are also loosely based on Romano and Rosenthal's real-life family members.
In "8 Simple Rules for Buying My Teenage Daughter", Meg Griffin interrupts an episode of the show to tell Neil Goldman how much she hates him. Romano and Patricia Heaton appear in the interrupted scene as their characters. Ray stands up for himself, which angers Debra, so she shatters a wine bottle and threatens him with it.
Brad Garrett appears in a fictional spinoff titled Robert in "Saving Private Brian", which was created after Raymond has been canceled.
