Hope and Ben Jennings are the parents of Scotty. When he passes out at the Griffin home in "Livin' on a Prayer", Lois rushes him to the hospital where Dr. Hartman announces he has cancer. Ben and Hope reveal they are aware of his condition and refuse to allow competent medical care to take care of him, announcing that as Christian Scientists they believe that medical matters will be handled by God. Lois decides to go against their wishes and takes him to get medical treatment. After she and Peter are caught on the way to the hospital, Lois manages to convince them to let Scotty have the treatment he needs.
