Little Shop of Horrors is the 1986 musical film adaptation of the off-Broadway musical comedy of the same name by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a nerdy florist shop worker who raises a vicious plant that feeds on human blood. Menken and Ashman's off-Broadway musical was based on the low-budget 1960 film also of the same name.

Doug the Pimple from "Brian the Bachelor" is reminiscent of Audrey II, the plant.

In "Peter's Two Dads", when Stewie imagines being tortured by Lois, Stewie repeatedly screams gratitude. In the film, Bill Murray’s character loves pain and goes to get a root canal for pleasure.

The song "Somewhere That's Green" in "The Courtship of Stewie's Father" is from the film. Herbert even dresses up as Audrey, the girl of Seymour's dreams.

When Brian and Stewie are wondering if Mort Goldman accidentally used the time machine in "Road to Germany", they ask Rick Moranis and the backup singers from the film. "Mort the Jew" is sung to the same tune as "Da-Doo".

Peter recalls having a bad experience performing as Audrey II in "Brian's Play".

With Brian's operation of Stewie's gene altering device in "Baby Stewie", the latter shape shifts though various creatures including Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors.

In "Hard Boiled Meg", Seymour starts singing "Suddenly Seymour" before getting shot.
