• McBurgertown is a parody of worldwide fast-food company McDonald's and similar fast-food multinational chains.
  • The cow’s line "Including... my beloved wife" is a direct quote from the character played by Montalbán in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
  • When Peter is helping the fireman he says "With great mustache comes great responsibility" which is a reference to Spider-Man.
  • Before Peter goes into McBurgertown to rescue the owner, he is shown with a fireman's hat which has the number 57 on it in an odd shape. This is a reference to Heinz.
  • The flashback Peter has about the Monopoly board game character, Mr. Monopoly. is a parody of a scene in The Shawshank Redemption in which the main character Andy Dufresne is in prison and three homosexual prisoners known as "the sisters" want to rape him. The narrator of the flashback is similar to the voice of the Morgan Freeman character, who narrated in the film adaption of Shawshank Redemption.
  • The entire scene in which Peter, Brian and the cow are being chased by the two security guards through the McBurgertown Headquarters is a reference to the sixties TV series "The Monkees", featuring the first "manufactured" pop group. The sequences involving crazy chase scenes interspersed with performances of a song in split screen are a classic reference, and the music played is "Pleasant Valley Sunday" by the Monkees.
  • The cow says, when questioned by Brian and Peter about where they were, he responds, ". . . but, in here, we call it 'Dacow'." Brian then comments that it is a Holocaust joke. It is a reference to Dachau, an infamous Nazi concentration camp located in Germany.
  • The chase scene parodies Scooby-Doo.
