- A janitor overhears Meg's friends referring to him as ugly and commits suicide by placing rocks in his pocket and drowning himself in his mop bucket. The gag is repeated when a distressed dad drowns himself in a mop bucket while holding a bowling ball.
- One of the Cherry Poppin' Daddies mistakenly thinks that the band were in the film Swingers. The band featured in the film was actually Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.[1]

- Stewie points out that this feels like an episode someone would win an award for in the 90s. This is a nod to the many "very special episodes" in that decade, and the well-meaning but now outdated portrayals of gay people in 90s sitcoms.[4][5]
