"Never Gonna Give You Up" is a song written by Stock, Aitken & Waterman and sung by English singer Rick Astley. The music video for the song has become the basis for the "Rickrolling" Internet meme.
On Family Guy, it was sung by Brian at the Newport Country Club Dance that Lois Pewterschmidt, Peter Griffin, Glenn Quagmire, and Ernie the Giant Chicken attended in 1984 in "Meet the Quagmires". It paralleled Marty McFly's performance of "Johnny B. Goode" in Back to the Future.
During the performance, in a parody of Back to the Future, Rick's cousin Marvin Astley calls him about the song, claiming it had the style Rick was looking for.
Lyrics
Brian: Here's a song by a gay guy.
[Music Starts]
Brian:
We're no strangers to love.
You know the rules and so do I.
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just want to tell you how I'm feeling
Got to make you understand
Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around
[Peter hits Ernie the Giant Chicken]
Guy: Whoa, whoa, big guy! You're probably never even gonna see him again.
Brian: Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.
Marvin Astley: Hey Rick, it's your cousin Marvin. Marvin Astley. You know that mediocre generic sound you've been looking for? Well, listen to this!
Brian: Never gonna give, never gonna give
(Give you up)
Never gonna give, Never gonna give
(Give you up)
[Music Ends]
Never gonna giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive!
Guy in crowd: I didn't like any of that!
