"Puttin' on the Ritz" is a song written and published in 1929 by Irving Berlin and introduced by Harry Richman in the musical film Puttin' on the Ritz (1930). The title derives from the slang expression "putting on the Ritz," meaning to dress very fashionably. The expression was inspired by the swanky Ritz Hotel.
In order to test out his mind control device in "The Story on Page One", Stewie sings "Puttin' on the Ritz" in the style inspired by the Mel Brooks film Young Frankenstein, with Chris taking the role of the monster.
Lyrics
Stewie: If you're blue and you don't know
where to go to why don't you go
where fashion sits
Chris: Puttin' on the Ritz!
