• This episode was previously titled "Ode to '85". According to the DVD commentary for "Road to the Multiverse", the episode was originally going to be "Road to '85" until "Multiverse" was given the distinction of being the "Road" episode for season 8.
  • This is the first episode to cross over with The Cleveland Show.
  • Peter's bathroom song is "Let's Get Loud" by Jennifer Lopez.
  • During Peter's "poop montage", he loses over 50 pounds; he goes from around 330 lbs to 270 lbs.
  • The Hedgehog in Putin's Russian Cutaway Gag says: "What idiot made up a sandwich with a porcupine? These no-good punks! Hahahaha!"
  • Meg's phone call says: "Agent 2476 knows and waits until we say what to do with our country. Please wait until we call you." After Meg speaks to the Russian on the phone, the response is "Shut up, 2476", similar to the many different times that Peter said "Shut up, Meg".
  • Meg's voice actress, Mila Kunis, speaks fluent Russian.
  • This is the second time Peter has associated himself with John Wayne. His hunting name in "And the Wiener is..." was Rooster Cogburn, the name of Wayne's Academy Award-winning character in True Grit.
  • Peter thinks Chase and Aykroyd are two of The Three Amigos, but it was really just Chase who was in that.
  • Peter also thinks that they are two of the Ghostbusters, but it was really just Aykroyd who starred in the film. Also Peter was inaccurate in stating "two of three Ghostbusters" as a fourth Ghostbuster joined the original three in the first film.
  • The Black Spy and the White Spy from MAD magazine's Spy vs. Spy make a cameo appearance.
  • Cleveland's Bathtub Gag is used once again.
  • During the original broadcast, the end credits were switched with "Brian's Got a Brand New Bag".
