TBS is an American cable television channel that shows sports and a variety of programming, with a focus on comedy.
TBS, which stands for Turner Broadcasting System, was originally known as WTCG, a UHF terrestrial television station that broadcast from Atlanta, Georgia, during the late 1970s. WTCG reportedly stood for "Watch This Channel Grow", although the "TCG" officially stood for Turner Communications Group, the forerunner to Turner Broadcasting System.
The channel, like Adult Swim, aired Family Guy in syndication until September of 2021. In addition, American Dad! began airing on TBS on September 20, 2010, and The Cleveland Show in 2013. TBS became the permanent new home of American Dad! in 2014.
Peter Griffin is disappointed when he finds an airing of Showgirls on the network in "Hell Comes to Quahog" because it is a basic cable channel.
