Does making money cost something else/come with an extra price too? And if so, then what?[]
Note: Meg along with the people included in this post are the ones that took it the worst. Worse, Love Thy Trophy doesn't reveal much about what happens next after the failure moments (Peter rejects Meg's request to buy her a Prada bag, CPS slams the window on Peter, or what happens after the dinner near the end of the episode with Meg) which makes this episode the more gut wrenching.
You know Meg from Love Thy Trophy where she wanted to purchase a Prada Bag so she could not be teased about her old hand bag only to have it sacrificed for the custody of Stewie in the end? That Prada Bag Meg bought costs money. So she had to work at a diner as a waitress and pretend to be a "mother of a crack-addicted baby" to make even more money within a smaller time frame. Sadly, she was forced to sacrifice her newly-purchased Prada Bag for the custody of Stewie.
Next, there's kids who are trying to make money by selling cookies or lemonade from a stand they set up outside in their open yard... only to have a cop car drive up and order them to close as they don't possess a permit to run it. The permit needed to run the stand costs money too. And also, side note here, some kids do actually work even though they are around 8 years old on a real job. But news crews like Inside Edition are investigating these cases where businesses are allowing children to work; businesses are scolded/blasted for allowing children to work even though the kids are doing their tasks just as fine as any adult. The kids are trying to make a profit too... just to acquire things that need money like video games, toys, and candy, mainly because their parents are too poor to give them an allowance. But these people have overstepped their boundaries by claiming kids shouldn't be allowed to work.
Finally, there's the civil forfeiture incidents when cops can confiscate your massive pile of dough (that you won from a game show or casino) even if you did nothing wrong/never committed a wrongdoing.
That's what makes me wonder if regardless of age and race etc, does making a profit come with an extra price? And if so, if that price is "more money", then where or how am I suppose to get "more money"? Because what else do you expect people of all ages to do? Steal to survive or move their lives forward?Cartoondude135 (talk) 03:42, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
