- Peter encouraging offended Christians who might be watching to mail complaints to the Family Television Council is a jab at the Parents Television Council, a Christian pro-censorship group and one of the show's most vocal critics.
- The closing where Rupert gives Stewie a Joni Mitchell CD and Stewie wonders who the necklace was for, is in reference to a scene in the film Love Actually.
