Plot:
Peter is Mac Bookpro in a 1930s-style mystery, who is hired by to solve the disappearance of sister Megan, a nun, by her mother, Heady. Following various tips, he suspects the cardinal is the villain, but things take a darker turn when sister Megan turns up dead after being shot in the head. During her autopsy, a roll of film is found on her, that when developed, turns out to be of the cardinal meeting with gangsters, as well as with Heady.
But, when Mac goes to confront the cardinal, the latter is stabbed to death. The police burst through the door just at that moment, having followed up a tip that a man matching Mike's description was about to kill the cardinal, in addition to the bullet from sister Megan matching Mac's gun. Mac is bailed out by his newspaper friend, and pursues Heady to the docks where she claims she is escaping in fear for her life. The photo of her and the cardinal turns out to be the product of an illicit affair the cardinal had, which resulted in the birth of Heady, making sister Megan his granddaughter. Further examination of a photo from the orphanage that sister Megan used to work at reveals a resemblance between one of the orphans and Mac's secretary, who walks out of the shadows with a gun and confirms that he has been planning an elaborate revenge on everyone who did him wrong. However, a friend of Mike's from the dock manages to strike him unaware, and allows them to recover the gun. Mac and Heady look forward to their wedding on December 7th, 1941, while the former secretary is locked up, subjected to castration and a lobotomy.
