The Brine 2

The King and I is a musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II based on the book Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon. The plot comes from the memoirs of Anna Leonowens, who became school teacher to the children of King Mongkut of Siam in the early 1860s. The musical opened on Broadway in 1951 and was the sixth collaboration for the team of Rodgers and Hammerstein. It ran for 1,246 performances, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical, among other awards. It spawned numerous revivals and a popular 1956 film version.

In "The King Is Dead", Lois Griffin is named director of the Quahog Players theatre group production, and she decides to produce the show. Initially, Loretta Brown and Brian Griffin were cast as Anna and King Monkut respectively. Lois' husband, Peter, is disappointed in not getting a major role, so he is named producer. Peter gradually takes over control, radically changing the play, making Anna's best friend a talking penguin. He then tries to promote the show and add star power by casting Diane Simmons as Anna, replacing Brown. Lois likes the fact that he got the play on the news, but is mad because Loretta, who was playing Anna, was doing a great job, but Peter recast her as Lady Teong. The production further deviates from the original when Griffin adds references to contemporary works. Griffin later transforms the Siamese twins into aliens. Lois then quits leaving Peter as the director, thus making him the most powerful man on set. His constant changes to the plot of the play frustrate Diane into quitting, so he plays Anna himself.

On performance night, all tickets are sold out. Lois attends the play, but only to witness Peter’s humiliation. After all the changes, Peter’s version of The King and I depicts a post-apocalyptic future set in the ruined world of 2015 AD after the 9th nuclear world war. The world is a “grim future filled with lots of explosions and partial nudity,”ruled by an oppressive Monkut, still played by Brian. A.N.N.A. is an Automoton Nuclear Neo-humanoid Android, a robot ninja from the planet England. A.N.N.A., not succumbing to the enticing, bikini-clad beautiful women all-female sex orgy, kung fu fights with the King, thus destroying him, and reclaiming Siam. He then ends the play with an original musical number, based on A.N.N.A's victory, called "A.N.N.A. Rules‎‎". To Lois’s perturbation, the show is a hit.
