James Timothy McCarver (October 16, 1941 – February 16, 2023) was an American former Major League baseball catcher, and a former sportscaster for FOX Sports. He also covered Major League Baseball on CBS, NBC, and ABC prior to 1996.
In "Mother Tucker", Brian says Stewie Griffin couldn't be worse on radio than McCarver is being a sportscaster, a reference to McCarver’s commentating gaffes throughout his broadcasting career.
