The Supreme Court of the United States is the highest court in the United States. Informally referred to as the High Court or by the acronym SCOTUS, it has ultimate, but largely discretionary appellate jurisdiction over all state and federal courts, and original jurisdiction over a small range of cases. The Court meets in Washington, D.C. in the United States Supreme Court Building, and consists of a chief justice and eight associate justices who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate. Once appointed, justices have life tenure unless they are removed after impeachment.
In "Let's Go to the Hop", Peter describe how people will do crazy things to be accepted. New Justice David Souter is encouraged by fellow justices John Paul Stevens, Sandra Day O'Connor, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, Clarence Thomas, Stephen Breyer and William Rehnquist to run an obstacle course with a cherry clenched in his butt cheeks and drop it into a glass of beer. Souter successfully runs the course and chugs the beer to top it off.
