Waylon Alvin Jennings (1937-2008) was a country music singer, though his musical career was varied enough that he played bass with Buddy Holly & the Crickets. Credited as "The Balladeer," he narrated every episode of the TV show "The Dukes of Hazzard," frequently voicing over cliffhanger freeze-frames right before the commercial breaks. Jennings did a Hazzard-esque voiceover for two Family Guy episodes, the later of which, To Love and Die in Dixie, was among his last performances before his death
