- When people are protesting, Adam West uses his Political Diversions List, which reads: Outlaw Flag Burning, Use Escape Pod, Scapegoat the Jews, Suicide, Scapegoat the Blacks, Scapegoat the French, Scapegoat the Jews Again (Call them New Yorkers), Start a war, and Jingle Keys. He chooses “Jingle Keys.”
- The door of the Young Republicans club bears the name "Society of Arch-Republican Students (S.A.R.S.)", alluding to the disease that spread throughout Southeast Asia in 2002 and 2003.
- The leader of the Young Republicans is addressed as Chancellor, an allusion to Nazi Germany.
- Bill Clinton appears naked again, having previously appeared naked in "E. Peterbus Unum".
- Jasper's fiancée Ricardo had appeared in "Brian Does Hollywood". Jasper explained in that episode that he doesn't speak a word of English, and in this episode, he doesn't say a word.
- Brian tells Chris that he's hasn't "been with a girl" since three years prior to the destruction of the Challenger. However, in "Brian Wallows and Peter's Swallows", Brian dated former ditty singer Pearl Burton, and in "Screwed the Pooch" he copulated with the female dog Seabreeze in the middle of the race track. Furthermore, "Brian in Love" and "Brian the Bachelor" establish Brian is 7 years old. But in "The Man with Two Brians", Lois confirms that Brian is 8 years old.

- Glenn Quagmire sings the chorus to Ross Bagdasarian’s song Witch Doctor after declining to sign Brian’s petition. According to the DVD commentary, Seth MacFarlane refers to this joke as a “$10,000 joke,” since that’s how much it cost him to use the song.
- When the priest shows the video about homosexuals to Lois, it says it was made by Pat Robertson Industries; this is a reference to Pat Robertson, the American evangelist who often spoke against gay rights. According to the DVD commentary, FOX Standards and Practices wanted Seth and co. to add the “Pat Robertson Industries” line so FOX wouldn’t be accused of being against homosexuality.
